Sunshine Books は1987年、今から22年前にニュージーランドでウェンディー・パイという女性によって設立された会社です。
私がこの本をアメリカの本屋さんで偶然見つけましたのは今から20年前です。当時日本には優れた英語の絵本が殆どありませんでした。
生徒達に良い教材を、と思ってみつけた絵本がこのSunshine Booksです。
たくさんの本を読んで英語のセンスを付けさせようと思い、使い始めました。
この本の特徴は
1) レベルがAからJまで１０段階あり、レベルAは1ページに2ワード。レベルJは一冊で352ワードになります。
2) 最後のページに必ずおちがあります。
3) 文法的な要素が考慮されています。
4) 本の内容に合うイラストレーターが繊細に選ばれています。
5) 子どもが好きになるようなキャラクターが入っています。
6) 子どもが読み進みたいと思う気持ちになるように各レベルが設定されています。
